As a MHFA Captain,

what will you learn?

  • Core Training (required)
    You will complete an internationally recognised 12-hour Mental Health First Aid Standard Course and a 2.5-hour helping skills training. 1. Mental Health First Aid Standard Course (12 hours) Online: 7-hour self e-learning platform and 5-hour real time online class Face-to-face: 4 sessions of 3-hour on-campus class 2. Helping Skills Training (2.5 hours)
  • Supplementary Trainings (optional)
    1. Self-care workshops Self-care workshops on topics such as understanding one’s personality, mindfulness skill, mind and body relaxation, etc., will be provided for you to enhance your mental wellness. These workshops will be conducted throughout the academic year. 2. Supplementary training resources on personal growth Subsidy of training fee of selected courses will be provided for Captains
  • Professional advice and experience in helping
    Professional advice from psychological counsellors and professional staff of the Counselling and Development Centre will be available for you when you want to seek advice on supporting fellow students with emotional needs and planning of activities. You can practice your helping skills in real life.
